Officials identified 27-year-old Anthony Vasquez who died after a pedestrian crash in Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ)

Authorities identified 27-year-old Anthony Vasquez as the man who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Saturday in Phoenix.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place near the intersection of Indian School Road and 49th Street at about 10 a.m. The preliminary reports showed that the pedestrian was trying to cross the street outside the lines of the nearest crosswalk when he was hit.

On arrival, first responders rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The driver of the car stayed at the scene after the accident. Speed and impairment were not believed to be involved in the collision. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
