On Tuesday, authorities identified 26-year-old Isaias Hernandez, of San Mateo, as the man who lost his life after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday morning.
Isaias Hernandez, 26, was killed following the accident that happened near the intersection of Tennyson Road and Hesperian Boulevard. Officers actively responded to that area at 6:08 a.m. and, on arrival, found two people pinned inside the sedan. Hayward firefighters freed both the victims and rushed them to Eden Medical Center for care.
Hernandez, who was the driver of the sedan, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The passenger in his car received major injuries and is currently listed in stable condition. The driver of the big rig remained unharmed in the collision. Police believe that he was not at fault in the accident. Police believe that alcohol might have played a role.
The crash remains under investigation.
