Officials identified 25-year-old John Read who died after being hit by a vehicle in Fresno (Fresno, CA)

Officials identified 25-year-old John Read as the man who lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle Saturday in Fresno.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at around 9:00 p.m. near Clinton Avenue and Brawley Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that Read walked in the middle of the road when he got hit by a car.

On arrival, first responders rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center where he died of his injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be involved in the crash. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
