Officials identified 18-year-old William Dawson who died after a single-car crash in Clinton (Clinton, TN)

Authorities identified 18-year-old William Dawson, from Jacksboro, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday in Anderson County.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 4 p.m. on Mountain Road in Clinton. The preliminary investigation showed that a 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by a 16-year-old was heading west on Mountain Road in Clinton when it drifted off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The vehicle came to an uncontrolled stop off the roadway.

The juvenile driver suffered injuries as a result of the collision. The condition of the victim was not available at this time. The passenger, William Dawson, suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Both the driver and Dawson were buckled up at the time of the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver.

An investigation is continuing.
