Officials identified 10-year-old Jack Clayton who died after an auto-pedestrian crash in Vista (Vista, CA)

Officials identified 10-year-old Jack Clayton as the boy who lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle Thursday in Vista.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at about 5:00 p.m. on Santa Fe Avenue near Civic Center Drive. On arrival, responding officers found the boy pinned under a Toyota pickup.

Emergency crews rescued and performed life-saving efforts on the victim, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. No other information is available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
