NHP has named 52-year-old Rafael Cortez killed in a fatal 3 vehicle accident. Officials told that the incident happened on US-50 at mile marker 3 in Douglas County near Glenbrook at about 5:11 p.m.
Furthermore, initial investigation showed that silver 2015 Subaru Impreza was going eastbound in the right lane on US-50, approaching a green 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. The Tacoma was traveling eastbound on US-50 in the left lane. The driver of the Subaru turned away from their lane and entered the left lane.
The left front of the Subaru crashed into the right rear of the Tacoma. Both cars flipped over and entered the westbound travel lanes. The Tacoma landed on the top of silver 1999 Toyota Corolla that was going westbound in the right lane.
Resultantly, the driver of the Tacoma, a 52-year-old Rafael Cortez of Gardnerville, died at the scene.
Authorities believe that impairment played as a factor in the deadly wreck.
Later, emergency staff treated the two people in the Corolla for minor injuries. On the other hand, medics airlifted the passenger in the Tacoma and the driver of the Subaru to the hospital via CareFlight.
Also, an investigation is continuing.
