On Sunday, 44-year-old Myphuong Thi Truong and 44-year-old Omar Gonzalez lost their lives following a multi-vehicle wreck in Webster Parish.
The fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place on Interstate 20, just west of Dixie Inn. The preliminary investigation showed that Myphuong Thi Truong and 62-year-old Leslie T Truong, both of Georgetown, Texas, were riding in an SUV when their vehicle struck a deer.
Moments after the first collision, 41-year-old Rafael Escobar Lopez of Waxahachie, Texas, who was driving a pickup, pulled over behind the SUV. At some point of time, a third vehicle driven by Omar Gonzalez, of Mission, Texas, rear-ended the pickup.
The force of the collision caused the pickup to hit both Myphuong Thi Truong and Leslie T Truong, who were standing in the roadway. Myphuong Thi Truong suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
Leslie T Truong was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries. Gonzalez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was transported to Minden Medical Center where he was declared dead. No other details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
