A multi-vehicle pile-up hospitalized five people near Warm Springs on Wednesday morning, according to law enforcement.
Las Vegas police said that the incident took place just after 7 a.m. Feb. 24 on Warm Springs Road and Schirlls Street, near Arville Street, in the south valley. LVMPD officer said that the wreck involved four vehicles, one of which flipped over.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper said that just before the four-vehicle crash, a trooper noticed a white Lexus driving rashly in the area, disobeying multiple red lights.
The trooper had to disengage chasing the Lexus owing to public safety. Moments after, a citizen stooped the trooper to assist with the crash.
Afterwards, medics transported five people to University Medical Center for their injuries.
The crash threw off the driver of the 2008 Lexus, a 30-year-old woman, from the vehicle, seriously injuring her. Also, the 21-year-old driver of a 2006 Hyundai Sante Fe was suffered critical injuries.
A 52-year-old woman in a 2006 Nissan Armada, an 82-year-old woman in a 2004 Nissan Sentra and the 20-year-old passenger in the Santa Fe all suffered minor injuries.
Moreover, eyewitnesses observed the Lexus drive at least 80 mph before the wreck.
Additionally, authorities are unsure if impairment played a factor in the crash.
LVMPD and NHP vehicles remained on scene of the crash to conduct a preliminary investigation of the accident. Also, officials closed down Warm Springs between Hinson and Arville.
