Minor injuries reported after a DUI crash in North Las Vegas (North Las Vegas, NV)

Minor injuries were reported after a DUI crash Wednesday in North Las Vegas.

As per the initial information, the two-car collision took place at about 6:20 p.m. near Azure Avenue and McCarran Street. The preliminary reports showed that the driver of a black 2015 Chrysler 200 was heading eastbound on Azure toward McCarran at a high speed while a red sedan was ahead of the Chrysler, driving normally.

At the intersection, the sedan made a left turn to go northbound on McCarran while the Chrysler drove onto the wrong side of the road in order to pass the sedan. The Chrysler slammed into the sedan instead. The driver later displayed signs of impairment and could not complete field sobriety tests

The driver of Chrysler was reportedly driving at over 3.5 times the legal blood alcohol level. Only minor injuries were reported in the wreck. It is unknown how many people were hurt or if anyone required hospitalization. The driver was detained and booked into the North Las Vegas Correctional Center on charges of DUI and reckless driving. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
