The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash in Parker County on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened at the intersection of Old Springtown road and FM 51, 4 miles or so north of Weatherford at around 7:30 a.m.
Melanie Scott of Springtown was operating a westbound Chevrolet Cobalt when she attempted to make a left turn onto FM 51. After the Cobalt failed to give way to oncoming traffic, an 18-wheeler that was moving north on FM 51 struck the car on the driver’s side.
Scott was declared dead at the scene. There was another occupant in the car with her, identified as a 10-year-old boy, who incurred critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Fort Worth.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not harmed in the accident.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the officials.
