Mario Rocha Jr., a 24-year-old Waco man, has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident on Jan. 21. According to court records, Rocha was racing another vehicle on Colcord Avenue before crashing into a 2021 Mitsubishi Outback Sport.
This caused it to overturn. Markeith Blacksher was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were injured. Rocha, already on probation for evading arrest and DWI, posted a $20,000 bond.
Witnesses reported Rocha’s vehicle and a white car racing “side-by-side.” Investigators found Rocha’s damaged vehicle at his residence. Rocha, refusing to return, was later arrested with forehead injuries. He faces charges of failure to stop and render aid, causing death.
