A man lost his life after getting hit by a vehicle early Monday in Tucson.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place near East Irvington Road and South Campbell Avenue at about 6 a.m. On arrival, first responders rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

The preliminary reports showed that the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officials. According to the TPD, the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident. No citations or charges have been issued.

An investigation is ongoing.
