On Saturday afternoon, a driver backing out of a driveway struck a man lying there in midtown Reno.
As per the initial information, the accident took place at approximately 4:53 p.m. on State Street near Holcomb Avenue. The early reports showed that a resident in a Toyota FJ Cruiser backed out of the driveway and failed to see the person in the driveway. It is unknown if the person in the driveway was sleeping or had some type of impairment.
On arrival, emergency crews rushed the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver cooperated with the officers and there were no signs of impairment on the part of the driver. Part of State Street was shut down as crews worked at the scene. No other details are made available.
The incident remains under investigation.
