Man died following an auto-pedestrian accident in Mansfield (Mansfield, TX)

A man who attempted to run across a Mansfield highway was hit and killed Tuesday night by a truck.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of Farm Road 917 in Mansfield. The driver of the truck informed Mansfield police he tried to avoid the man, but he could not do so. The man was struck while he was in the roadway. He was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

Police believe the incident was an accident, and there were no other contributing factors. The roadway was shut down for several hours during the investigation. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
