On Monday morning, a man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 15.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 10:40 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15, south of Wildomar Trail. The early reports indicated that a man was standing on the northbound shoulder when a 2016 Freightliner truck approached and the man ran into the right side of the vehicle’s trailer. Just then, the truck struck the pedestrian, throwing him into the No. 3 lane on the northbound side.
The 61-year-old big rig driver, from Victorville, remained unharmed. Reports showed that the male driver immediately stopped after the collision. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Authorities closed No. 2 and 3 northbound lanes for three hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
