Man dead after a hit-and-run crash in Pico-Union area (Los Angeles, CA)

A man lost his life after being hit twice Thursday in the Pico-Union area.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run collision took place at around 10:10 p.m. Thursday on Vermont Avenue at Pico Boulevard. The preliminary reports showed that a white sedan was heading southbound on Vermont Avenue when it struck the man, who had been running.

The force of the collision threw the man into the street, where he was struck by a Metro bus that was going southbound on Vermont. Firefighters actively responded to the scene and tried to revive the man, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the white sedan left the scene, but the 41-year-old bus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. It is not known if there were passengers on the bus, but no other injuries were reported. Officials have sought help Friday to identify the driver who struck the pedestrian. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
