On Tuesday afternoon, a man lost his life while four people, including three children suffered injuries following a head-on collision in Placer County.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 3 p.m. on Foresthill Road, west of Drivers Flat Road. The preliminary investigation indicated that a Toyota Corolla was heading westbound on Foresthill Road when it drove into the opposite lane and slammed head-on into an Acura MDX, a type of SUV.
The male driver of the Toyota succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was reportedly the sole occupant of the car. There was a woman and three children between the ages of 10 to 15 in the Acura. The children were taken to the UC Davis Medical Center, and the woman was rushed to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
All people inside the SUV are expected to survive, officials said. Nearby roads were temporarily closed as crews worked at the scene. Both directions of Foresthill Road were blocked for hours, but have since reopened. The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. No additional information has been provided.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
