A pedestrian, identified as Lauren Goppert, lost her life in a tragic incident on Friday night while attempting to cross Highway 6 in northwest Harris County. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fatal crash occurred around 11:35 p.m. in the 8900 block of State Highway 6 North.

Witnesses indicated that Goppert was walking northbound in an area without lights or a designated crosswalk. When she tried to cross the road southbound, a passing driver attempted to change lanes to avoid her, but unfortunately, Goppert was struck by the vehicle.

Goppert was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services.

The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The pedestrian accident is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division, and no charges have been filed.
