In a tragic incident, Latasha Vasquez, a white female, lost her life after being struck by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on US Business 69 South.
The Greenville Police Department reported the pedestrian accident occurred around 8:23 p.m. on October 2, 2023, in the 490 block area. Vasquez was critically injured and was taken to Hunt Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment. Unfortunately, Vasquez succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace, Wayne Money.
Accident investigators determined that Vasquez attempted to cross the road from the south side, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, leading to the fatal crash.
The SUV driver cooperated fully, and no criminal charges are expected. Vasquez’s next of kin were promptly notified.
