A tragic three-vehicle collision on a Hill Country highway resulted in the loss of life over the weekend, authorities reported. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Friday near Fredericksburg in Gillespie County, according to officials.

Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicate that a vehicle veered across a center turn lane into oncoming traffic on U.S. 290, leading to a collision with another vehicle. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident.

Kaitlyn Michelle Sucilla-Orozco, a passenger in the struck car, tragically lost her life in the crash, as confirmed by Texas Highway Patrol Sgt. Kenny Mata. Among the vehicles involved was an Amazon delivery van, as noted in a Facebook post by Fredericksburg Fire and Emergency Services.

DPS troopers are actively investigating the crash to determine why the driver of the initial car crossed into oncoming traffic, Sgt. Mata stated.
