Police are sounding the alarm that a semi-truck crash has led to a major road closure in Gig Harbor.
As per police, at about 1:30 p.m. a semi-truck jackknifed and crashed on SR-16. The accident and the subsequent response have completely shut down the westbound lanes near Burnham Drive. The reason behind the crash remains to be seen and it is unclear if there have been any injuries or if there were any other vehicles involved. The affected road will remain closed for the foreseeable future Wednesday, and police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
The crash is under investigation.
