On early Saturday morning, 33-year-old Xavier Cantu lost his life after a hit-and-run accident near 71st Avenue and Thomas Road, Phoenix police said.
A Ford Explorer was traveling north down 71st Avenue at a very high speed when it collided with a Cadillac going west down Catalina Drive, according to officials. The driver of the Cadillac, 33-year-old Xavier Cantu, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The occupants inside of the Ford Explorer allegedly ran away on foot before police arrived at the scene. It is unknown if impairment played a part in the crash.
An investigation is continuing at this time.
