Heather Wells Compton dead after being hit by train outside of Opelousas (Opelousas, LA)

On Friday, Heather Wells Compton lost her life after getting hit by a train just outside of Opelousas.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian crash took place at 3:16 p.m. near Jennings Rd. and Hwy 190 outside of Opelousas. According to the Union Pacific Railroad, one of their trains struck a female pedestrian who was walking near the track.

On arrival, officers found the body of Heather Wells Compton, from Opelousas, near Jennings Rd. and Hwy 190. The woman died of her injuries after the collision. No additional information has been released by the authorities.

The incident remains under active review.
