Head-on crash injured a woman in Phoenix, impairment suspected (Phoenix, AZ)

Driver impairment is suspected after a head-on crash that seriously injured a woman in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Andy Williams with the Phoenix Police Department states that a man steering a blue Toyota Highlander crossed from Cactus Road’s westbound lanes into the oncoming eastbound traffic and smashed into a maroon Dodge Durango head-on near 43rd Avenue at around 2:45 p.m.

The woman in the Durango suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive, says Williams. The man driving the Durango also sustained injuries but not of serious nature. Medics transported both to a hospital. Investigators believe that the man may have been impaired at the time of crash. Williams says Cactus Road will be restricted for a few hours as an investigation is ongoing.
