In a tragic two-vehicle crash in Yoakum County on Highway 82 at FM 769, three lives were lost, and one person was seriously injured. Gage Emijedio Sandoval, 20, Crystal Mendoza, 40, and Javier Esparza Quinonez, 43, were pronounced dead in the multi-vehicle accident.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Sandoval, driving a Jeep Compass, failed to stop at the stop sign on FM 769, colliding with a vehicle driven by Pipper Madaly Satre, 23, of Lovington.
Satre, seriously injured, was transported to Nor-Lea hospital district in Lovington, while two toddler passengers in her vehicle were unharmed. The fatal crash investigation revealed seatbelt usage by all except Quinonez, with dry and clear road conditions.
