Female pedestrian hospitalized following a suspected DUI crash in Fresno (Fresno, CA)

A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized following a suspected DUI crash Thursday afternoon in Fresno.

As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian collision took place just after 6 p.m. on Palm Avenue and Olive Avenue. Officials said that two vehicles involved in the collision seemed to be chasing each other as the driver of a blue pickup truck failed to stop after colliding with a white SUV.

The driver of the blue pickup took off, ran a red light and struck the woman who was in the crosswalk. The pickup lost control, struck a bus bench and then a fence nearby. The SUV driver pulled and while helping the woman he saw the driver of the blue pickup attempt to run away.

He then chased the driver down and brought him back to the scene until police arrived at the scene. Paramedics rushed the woman to Community Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition. The 27-year-old driver was detained and is now facing multiple charges along with a DUI. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
