On Tuesday, a traffic collision in south Tacoma led to a fatality.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place on Yakima Avenue. At about 8 a.m., officials reported that Yakima Avenue was shut down between S. 86th Street and S. 88th Street as crews worked at the scene. Shortly before 8:40 a.m., crews confirmed that the accident had turned fatal.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. The roadway was expected to remain blocked for further investigation. Motorists were asked to use alternate routes. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
