According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Monday. Officials confirmed that one person died in the two-vehicle collision.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Interstate 12 near Essen Lane.
An 18-wheeler was pulled over on the right side of the roadway.
For reasons unknown, a Ford veered off the road and crashed into the 18-wheeler.
The passenger in the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The passenger was identified as Edgar Hernandez.
The driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries.
The individuals in the 18-wheeler did not suffer any injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the BRPD.
It is not known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
