A sleeping driver was rudely awakened when he slammed his car into a freeway guardrail on Bothell Tuesday morning.
The driver was going from SR 522 and taking the off-ramp to I-405 South just before 7 a.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel, Trooper Rick Johnson said. Photos from the scene indicated that the car crashed into a side guardrail, lifting the rail up and over the car. Johnson told that the driver only sustained minimal injuries as a result of the collision and was not impaired. The accident did not involve any other vehicles.
The crash is under investigation.
