Driver killed in fiery crash in SW Houston (Houston, TX)

A driver died after the vehicle crashed and caught fire in SW Houston despite efforts to remove him from the wreckage on Saturday.

The incident took place on South Gessner near Meadowland Drive. According to bystanders, the vehicle crashed into part of a bridge and flipped over. The vehicle’s fuel tank was ruptured in the accident and ignited. A bystander attempted to free the trapped driver from the car but couldn’t get him out before flames consumed it.

As of now, authorities did not release the identity of the victim and the cause of the crash. Witnesses said that speed might have played a factor in the deadly wreck.

An investigation is underway.
