On Wednesday, a rollover crash injured one person and traffic was backed up due to an overturned 18-wheeler at one of Tyler’s busiest intersections.
The incident took place at about 6:30 p.m. at ESE Loop 323, Troup Highway in which an overturned 18-wheeler was involved. According to the responders, one lane of southbound traffic on Troup Highway was able to pass through the affected area. Tyler police listed the accident as a pin-in crash.
Officers stated that the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital through ambulance for observation. Officials stated that traffic will be affected in the area for several hours, as it will take time to unload the truck’s trailer to flip it back again.
The outside and middle southbound lanes of Troup Hwy and the outside and middle eastbound lanes of Loop 323 were shut down as the crews worked to flip the truck over. Drivers are asked to avoid the area. As of 10:56 p.m. Wednesday, crews at the scene reported that the 18-wheeler is upright again, but traffic moving through the intersection is still extremely congested.
An investigation is ongoing.
