A school bus with no one inside except the driver crashed Tuesday morning on I-35E in Lewisville, resulting in major traffic delays throughout the morning.
Just before 9 a.m., authorities received reports of a single-vehicle crash in the southbound express lanes of I-35E. On arrival, they learnt that a Durham school bus had struck the retainers at the end of a concrete divider. The front axle of the bus was ripped off and the rear axle was damaged due to the impact. The bus came to a rest in the express lanes.
The driver of the school bus, which was not a Lewisville ISD bus, did not receive major injuries, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. As of Tuesday afternoon, it was unknown how fast the bus was traveling. No other details are provided.
The incident remains under review.
