Child struck while crossing US 50 at Zephyr Cove (Zephyr Cove, NV)

A car crashed into a five-year-old child while the kid was crossing U.S. 50 at Elks Point. The accident transpired at 5:41 p.m. near the south end of Lake Tahoe on Thursday evening, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The child coped minor injuries and was admitted to the hospital as a safety measure, the NHP said.

The NHP said four children from a family passed through U.S. 50 to go to a store and then came back. A child thought an on-coming car was conscious of them and began to cross. The vehicle slowed considerably but not completely and hit the 5-year-old at low speed.

Police is looking into this case for further investigation.
