Child died, 2 others seriously injured after a car hits them in Southern California (Desert Hot Springs, CA)

A car crashed into a school bus in Southern California and then hit a group of walking children on Thursday, claiming the life of a student and injuring three others.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place just before 4 p.m. in the Riverside County town of Desert Hot Springs, east of Los Angeles and north of Palm Springs. The early reports showed that a white Cadillac collided with the bus from behind, and then went around it and struck four students who were walking home from a bus stop.

One child succumbed to their injuries at the scene, two others had serious injuries and a fourth incurred minor injuries. The driver of the Cadillac also received injuries. The children attended Julius Corsini Elementary School, according to the Palm Springs Unified School District. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
