Car hits and kills a 41-year-old man in Oakland (Oakland, CA)

On Sunday evening, a car veered off the road and drove onto a sidewalk where it struck and killed a 41-year-old man in Oakland’s Glenview neighborhood, police said.

The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of Park Boulevard at around 5:15 p.m. when a Lexus GS going northbound swerved off the roadway following which the Lexus hit the man and two parked cars. On arrival, medics rushed the man to nearby Highland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver ran on foot, police said, and no description was available. Authorities will reveal the identity of the victim after notifying the next of kin.

An investigation is continuing at this time.
