Big rig vs. car collision killed 1 person on Bridge Street and Gilman Springs Road (San Jacinto, CA)

A big rig vs. car crash claimed life of one person on Bridge Street and Gilman Springs Road near Mystic Lake on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials got the news of the incident at around 2:55 p.m. in which a big rig and a car collided in the northbound lanes. Responders pulled out the driver of the car from the debris in grave condition and declared the victim deceased on the spot while the truck driver suffered minimal injuries. Medics transported the big rig driver to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment. After the crash, a fire erupted which jumped to roadside vegetation and the blaze continued into a field because of light to moderate winds.

Several county engines and hand crews actively responded to put off the brush fire. Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter from Hemet-Ryan Airport also arrived at the scene. At around 5:30 p.m., the forward rate of spread has been stopped and they have contained the brusher for around 10%.

An investigation is underway.
