The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Katy Freeway eastbound at Antoine Drive on Saturday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 83-year-old Bernard Sneller of Amarillo.
At around 10:20 a.m., the crash happened near the north of the Canadian River Bridge. Bernard Sneller was slammed into the back of another tractor-trailer which was stopped at the red light in the construction zone. The second big rig was then pushed into a pickup which was also stopped at the red light. Sneller was pronounced dead at the scene.
All six people in the pickup were taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with minor injuries. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
