A tragic fatal crash in Colfax County claimed the life of a baby, according to the New Mexico State Police (NMSP). The multi-vehicle accident occurred Friday evening, prompting NMSP response to milepost 355 on US Highway 64/87 around 5:21 p.m.
Authorities reported that a 2022 Ram pickup, driven by Kiustyn Martin De La Torre, 41, of Florida, was rear-ended by a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) while heading east. The CMV, driven by Talon Green, 29, of Texas, collided with the pickup. Green sustained minor injuries and was hospitalised, while an infant inside the Ram was fatally injured.
Four other occupants of the pickup were transported to a hospital. NMSP confirmed that seat belts were worn by all occupants, and alcohol was not a factor. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
