Authorities identified 86-year-old Daoud Marzi who died after getting hit by a car in Hayward (Hayward, CA)

On Monday, authorities identified 86-year-old Daoud Marzi as the elderly Hayward man who lost his life after getting hit by a vehicle Saturday in his hometown.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to Calaroga Avenue and Southgate Street at 4:10 p.m. on reports of a collision. On arrival, first responders learnt that 86-year-old Daoud Marzi had been struck by a vehicle.

Marzi was rushed to a hospital where later he was declared deceased. The driver of the vehicle remained unharmed, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with the officials. Police believe that impairment did not play a role in the collision. No other details are available.

An investigation continues.
