Authorities identified 71-year-old Robert Roger Marchand who died after a crash on I-805 (Chula Vista, CA)

On Wednesday, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 71-year-old Robert Roger Marchand, of El Cajon, as the man who was killed after a single-vehicle accident off Interstate 805.

Robert Roger Marchand died of his injuries at UCSD Medical Center. The fatal rollover crash took place just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, close to the Telegraph Canyon Road exit ramp off I-805. Marchand was heading northbound on I-805 when, for undetermined reasons, the vehicle veered onto the highway’s right shoulder and went down an embankment before it ended up on its roof.

On arrival, first responders rushed Marchand to USCD, but he succumbed to his injuries. According to the CHP traffic incident page, witnesses reported that the vehicle was “all over (the) roadway” before flipping over. Authorities closed down the exit ramp for 90 minutes while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
