63-year-old Cheryl Anderson lost her life and multiple others received injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Sunday evening near 44th Avenue and Indian School Road.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at about 10:45 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a Kia Soul going south on 45th Avenue was attempting to make a left turn onto Indian School Road when it collided with a Hyundai Sonata that was heading west on Indian School Road.
On arrival, first responders rushed both adults in the Kia to the hospital. One of those adults, later identified as 63-year-old Cheryl Anderson, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Three of six people inside the Hyundai fled from the scene. One of the three that ran from the scene was later found, transported to the hospital, and discharged before getting treatment.
The other three people inside the Hyundai were also shifted to the hospital. The extent of injuries sustained by the injured victims is unknown at this time. The reports further revealed that the driver of the Kia did not show any signs of impairment. However, officers believe that impairment played a part on behalf of the driver of the Hyundai.
An investigation is ongoing.
