Authorities identified 58-year-old Timothy Dewitt who died after being hit by a motorcycle (Yakima, WA)

Authorities identified 58-year-old Timothy Dewitt, of Yakima, as the man who lost his life after being struck by a motorcycle on Saturday night.

As per the preliminary reports, officers responded to the area of 500-block of Fair Ave at about 7:55 p.m. on October 2 on reports of a motorcycle crash. On arrival, they found the pedestrian unconscious in the roadway.

The victim was then rushed to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Local authorities identified the man as Timothy Dewitt of Yakima. The reports further stated that other police officers spoke with motorcycle rider who was only identified as a 27-year-old Toppenish man. He informed YPD officers that he was traveling southbound on Fair Ave at Maple St.

Just then, he attempted to pass two cars that were in the left turn storage lane, but ended up hitting the victim. Local police officers mentioned that the motorcyclist incurred minor injuries. An autopsy for the victim has yet to be scheduled. Police officers are still looking for witnesses of the deadly incident.

An investigation continues.
