Authorities identified 58-year-old Paul Sigler who died after a hit-and-run accident in Santa Monica (Santa Monica, CA)

Authorities identified 58-year-old Paul Sigler as the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on a Santa Monica street in an apparent hit-and-run and then hit by another vehicle while he was down in the street.

Authorities found out that the victim, 58-year-old Paul Sigler, was homeless. The fatal hit-and-run accident was reported at 8:05 p.m. Saturday at 10th Street and Pico Boulevard. Police are actively searching for a White Dodge Challenger with red racing stripes on its hood.

The second driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Sigler was declared deceased at the scene. The department’s Major Accident Response Team is looking into this crash, which will include talking to eyewitnesses and checking for surveillance video in the area.

An investigation continues.
