Authorities identified 56-year-old Scott Baker who was killed in a two-vehicle accident on I-5 (Everett, WA)

Authorities released the name of 56-year-old Scott Baker, a Marysville man, who lost his life after a two-vehicle crash on I-5 in Everett on Sunday.

Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 56-year-old Scott Baker on Wednesday. Baker was driving a Chevrolet Malibu south at a high rate of speed just before 4 p.m. when he was between lanes.

Just then, his car rear-ended the motorcycle, throwing the rider off the motorcycle and into the brush along the right shoulder, authorities stated. Baker’s car drifted off the highway, rolled into two other vehicles and landed on the embankment.

The impact ejected him from the car into a water-filled ditch and he succumbed to his injuries. The medical examiner confirmed that Baker was killed due to drowning. The 64-year-old motorcycle rider of Marysville was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

The incident remains under investigation.
