Authorities identified 56-year-old Daneen Allenkiester who lost her life after a traffic accident last week in Lafayette.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-car collision took place in the area of St. Marys Road and Glenside Drive. A statement from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office stated that 56-year-old Daneen Allenkiester, from Lafayette, was allegedly driving drunk when her car and another one crashed into each other at about 10:47 a.m. on Dec. 24.

On arrival, first responders rushed Allenkiester by ambulance to a hospital. She succumbed to her injuries two days later. The driver of the other vehicle and at least one passenger in it had injuries that were considered minor by authorities. It is unknown how many passengers were in the second vehicle. They were all treated at a hospital and discharged. No other information is available.

An investigation is ongoing.
