Authorities identified 53-year-old Jerry Cole Jr. who died in Pomona head-on collision (Pomona, CA)

On Saturday, authorities identified 53-year-old Jerry Cole Jr. who died when he drove his Lexus against traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle in Pomona.

According to coroner’s Lt. David Smith, Jerry Cole Jr., 53, was a San Dimas resident. An autopsy although was pending. Bystanders at the scene told Pomona Police Department officers that a black Lexus westbound in the eastbound lanes of Arrow Highway crashed head-on with an eastbound vehicle west of Garey Avenue at around 3:35 p.m. Friday.

The Lexus driver now identified as Cole was pronounced deceased on the spot by Los Angeles County paramedics and the driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. Why Cole drove into oncoming traffic remains to be seen.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
