Authorities identified 53-year-old James Alvarez who died after being run down by a VIA bus (Bexar County, TX)

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 53-year-old James Alvarez who lost his life while attempting to catch a VIA bus.

James Alvarez succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained in the incident, which took place at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of West Commerce and North Walters streets on the East Side.

He was declared dead shortly after the accident. A VIA spokesperson mentioned that the man started to chase the bus as it was leaving a bus stop at the intersection. He tapped on the side of the bus before he slipped and fell under its rear tires.
