Authorities identified 45-year-old Mark Adaway who died in a big rig crash on I-30 in Texarkana (Texarkana, TX)

On Wednesday morning, 45-year-old Mark Adaway lost his life in a fatal big rig crash on I-30.

The Texas DPS quickly responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on I-30 in Texarkana. As per the Texarkana Texas Police Department, the big rig was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The incident took place on I-30 W near the Texas rest area at about 4:30 a.m.

Initial investigation shows that a 2020 Peterbilt tractor trailer towing double trailers was going west on I-30, when for a still unknown reason, it went off the road and struck the overpass of the entrance ramp onto I-30.

The driver of the truck died of his injuries at the scene. He has been named by Texas DPS as Mark Adaway, 45, of Grand Prairie. As of about 10:30 a.m., I-30 remained closed down on the westbound side; traffic is being redirected onto the frontage road.

Authorities will continue to investigate the cause that led to the crash.
