Authorities identified 43-year-old Laura Tijerina who died after a car crash on the North Side (San Antonio, TX)

The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified 43-year-old Laura Tijerina as the woman who died after her car hit a deer before it slammed into a tree on the North Side Thursday.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 13700 block of Jones Maltsberger Road, near Carlton Oaks. Then investigation reports showed that the woman was driving a 2015 Honda Accord on Jones Maltsberger when a deer crossed the road in front of her.

At that time, her vehicle struck the deer, swerved across the road and slammed into a tree. She was declared dead at the scene. Police stated that she was not buckled up at the time of the accident. No other details are available.

An investigation is continuing.
