On Monday, authorities identified 29-year-old Vincent Esquivel, of Descanso, as the man who lost his life over the weekend in a traffic accident on Interstate 8 in Alpine.
The investigation reports showed that Vincent Esquivel was traveling west just before 9 p.m. Saturday when his vehicle ran off the freeway and fell down a roughly 200-foot embankment near Tavern Road. Esquivel was thrown from the car as it went down the roadside slope.
He succumbed to his injuries at the crash scene. At this time, it is unknown why the vehicle veered of the freeway. No other details have been provided by the officials.
An investigation into the crash is continuing.
